Producer

Over the course of my time at Studio40 Live, I have had the privilege to booth live episodes in the producer chair as well as field produce, shoot, and edit 30 minute specials for the show. Among the specials I produced is the NASCAR Toyota Savemart 350 preview show, the Studio40 Live 2017 Best of Show Top 40 Countdown, and the Studio40 Live Farm to Fork Cook Off.

My experience as a news and lifestyle photographer spans four years at KTXL Fox40. In my role at Studio40, I not only filmed and edited the pieces, but I coordinated shoots with guests and clients, interviewed the subjects, and made editorial decisions as the Field Producer. Assuming the multiple roles, I have been able to see a project through from start to finish. Below is my reel which features clips from segments I have filmed, produced, and edited.

Drone Operations

As a small UAS Part 107 Drone Pilot by the FAA, I am certified to fly drones for commercial use. My experience with drones dates back to 2017, and I have used both the Mavic Pro and Mavic Pro 2. I always look to add aerial shots in my pieces as much as possible. It is a great scene setter for any type of video.

In addition to aerials, I have found drones to be great for point of view shots as demonstrated in the reel below.

Podcasting has been my latest passion. I started the "Capital Success Podcast" in August 2018 with the goal to learn from the best people Sacramento has to offer. Each week I booked, interviewed, and produced a podcast with a new guest. I edited each episode using Adobe Audition.

The podcast has been received well, and I have heard from many people they look forward to each episode. It has also become the source for people to explain the origin stories of their career in a way they can't anyway where else. It has been a joy to be a part of something the community enjoys.

Some of my favorite guests range from "Home Town Hero" Spencer Stone, Sacramento Kings Announcer Scott Moak, and Communications Director for the Sacramento Midtown Association John Adair.

I'm a Multi Media Journalist with a wide range of experience including producing, field producing, shooting, editing, drone operating, and podcasting.

Over the course of the past 5 years, I have had the pleasure of working at KTXL FOX40 in Sacramento. I started off as a Production Assistant, learning the ins and outs of both the morning and evening newscasts with duties including editing VOs, VO/SOTs, PKGs, lighting the studio, audio mixing in live broadcasts, floor directing, operating the teleprompter, and shooting segments on our rove cameras.

After a year as a Production Assistant, I moved to a News Photographer position. As a News Photographer I worked mornings, afternoons, and evenings shooting and editing the daily news, operating live trucks and live shots for broadcast. Some of the scenes I covered as a News Photographer include house fires, wildfires, stand offs, burglaries, the launch of the re-opening of the East Area Rapist case in 2016, the Halley Wing murder special report and more.

It was over the course of the last 3 years though where I have gained the most broadcasting experience through my position as Field Producer on the daily lifestyle program Studio40 Live. In addition to my skills as a photographer, this position allowed me to gain valuable experience as a producer. Some of my highlights on the show include producing, shooting, and editing special programs for the show. Some of the specials include two best of shows, The American Hero Wedding where we gave a wedding away to a police officer and her husband, and the Farm to Fork Cook Off. I also helped create a car interview segment called "Forty Blocks" in the same spirit as "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" and James Cordon's "Carpool Karaoke" that I am proud of. I also regularly fill in as the show's live producer in the booth, and built the show through our OPUS rundown program.

My position at Studio40 Live also afforded me the opportunity to step outside of the lifestyle program and produce/field produce/edit a sports show previewing the NASCAR Toyota Savemart 350 event at Sonoma Raceway. The host and I flew to Las Vegas to interview the biggest names of NASCAR. I then used those interviews and additional research to put the show together. President Steve Page of the Sonoma Raceway said "I think this is better than any of the previous [shows] we've done." This experience with NASCAR has been one of the highlights of my career.

When KTXL Fox40 bought a few drones in 2017, I took it upon myself to become a small UAS Part 107 certified Drone Pilot. Since I became certified, I have used our DJI Mavic series drones to incorporate specific shots into my segments, and helped with the new News Opens that was heavy in drone shots of the region.

Outside of work, I started a weekly Sacramento-based podcast called "Capital Success Podcast" where i interview the best, brightest, and most successful people the city has to offer. This project has been a labor of love for me and has given me amazing on air experience. I thrive in an interview setting, and this podcast has given me the outlet to meet with and gain valuable insight on the backstories that made my guests the people they are today. It has been a blast hosting, producing, and editing each episode. Some of my best guests include "Hometown Hero" and star of the movie "The 15:17 to Paris" Spencer Stone, Sacramento Kings Announcer Scott Moak and Communications Director for the Sacramento Midtown Association John Adair.
